We our thrilled to welcome our two new staff members, Shanbria Bryant and Jessi Brown, to the team! Read on to learn a little bit more about them.

Shanbria has volunteered at the Hampton Public Library, Newport News Park, and Ignite ODU Pantry.

Shanbria’s Marketing and Communications experience started when she was hired as a Marketing and Communications intern with the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB). Not long after graduating college she started working for a Marketing Firm, Phoenix Solutions Inc. In the upcoming fall Shanbria will begin her studies for her Masters of Art in Media and Communications at Norfolk State University.

Jessi graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2015, and quickly found her love for working in the non-profit world. She began her career working as a Foster Care Case Manager, before filling the need as a Homeless Youth Case Manager for the same agency.

Just before moving to Virginia last year, from her home state of Michigan, Jessi worked as a Victim Advocate for a Children’s Advocacy Center. During her time in those various roles, Jessi was able to serve on many multidisciplinary teams and community task force committees, to advocate for positive, survivor-centered changes, to the Sexual Violence Interventions within her community.

When Jessi is not at work, you can typically find her relaxing at the beach or in the pool with her family. She also enjoys crafting, traveling to new places, and trying new cuisines.

Jessi is eager to continue working alongside her new community, to support and empower survivors in their healing journey.
